Creativity means to me the heady scent of oil paints. It means losing myself in colour and detail, balance and proportion, and the music I turn on with my elbows while my hands are wet. Creativity means hours sitting silently in a dusky acting studio, surrounded by strangers and feeling strange. It means letting the silence build inside until I have earned the right to speak.
Creativity means to me solving a problem I thought was impossible. It means suddenly seeing with perfect clarity the way forward, and finding satisfaction in a solution that almost feels as though it came from outside of myself. Creativity means "Adding brown sugar to Ratatouille tastes delicious!" it means "Painting a dog dressed in human clothes would make a great Christmas gift!" Creativity means "Ah hah!"
To me, creativity means writing. It means reveling in the intricacies of the English language, and choosing the perfect words to precisely articulate my thoughts. It means taking this care with my composition, but can also mean writing rapidly and unrestrainedly in a stream of consciousness that conceals none of my fears or imperfcetions.
Creativity means not being afraid to mess up.
Creativity means not being afraid to succeed.
And creativity (to me) means creating from your heart.
